About Himalyan Origins

In the midst of the sprawling landscapes of Uttarakhand, a tale of conscious entrepreneurship and familial collaboration has taken root. Neha Parmar, at 41, and her sister Soumya Parmar, at 36, embarked on a journey that sought to redefine self-care, sustainability, and community welfare. The duo recognized the growing plastic waste crisis in their beloved Himalayan state and decided that it was time to make a change.

Born in Dehradun and Bhimtal, Neha and Soumya watched as the plastic waste problem escalated, impacting nearby water bodies and the environment. Their upbringing instilled in them a deep love for the region, and this love was transformed into action when they founded Himalayan Origins in 2020. With Neha's environmentalist spirit and Soumya's digital marketing expertise, the sisters combined their strengths to create a skincare brand that goes beyond beauty - it's a tribute to their heritage and a commitment to a greener world.

Central to Himalayan Origins' ethos is the utilization of locally sourced ingredients native to Uttarakhand. In an era where harmful chemicals lurk in skincare and haircare products, the sisters were determined to offer safer alternatives for both themselves and others. Their journey into motherhood further reinforced this mission, as they aimed to shield their children from the adverse effects of chemical-laden products.

The essence of Himalayan Origins lies not just in its products, but also in its sustainable practices. Neha and Soumya understood that innovation was key to reducing waste. They conceptualized products like shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and facewash bars, aiming to replace conventional bottled alternatives. Their commitment extended to packaging, where they abandoned single-use plastics and Thermocol in favor of eco-friendly materials like newspapers.

The brand's cornerstone is the Hibiscus Hair Oil, a chemical-free product crafted from 18 locally grown or sourced ingredients. Harnessing the natural bounty of Uttarakhand, the Parmar sisters promote hyperlocal procurement, which not only supports nearby farmers but also reduces carbon footprint.

In the pursuit of progress, customer feedback has been invaluable. Constructive criticism led them to refine their packaging strategy and enhance the quality of their products. Positive testimonials, especially about their flagship Hibiscus hair oil, remind them of the positive impact they're making.

In 2022, Himalayan Origins joined Amazon's Prime Day and the Great Indian Festival, marking a significant milestone. The demand exceeded their expectations, validating the importance of their mission and products. With a heart full of gratitude and excitement, Soumya recounted the experience, labeling it a "nightmare but for good reasons."

As the journey continues, Himalayan Origins remains committed to innovation and expansion. Handcrafted soy wax candles and rosewood-based combs are on the horizon, aligning with the brand's dedication to sustainable choices.

Through their venture, Neha and Soumya not only rejuvenated their roots but also exemplified the power of collaboration, commitment to nature, and the ability to make a difference. Their story, etched in the heart of the Himalayas, is a testament to the fact that self-care need not be selfish – it can be a catalyst for positive change.
